Before becoming a freelancer I as the first official Design Director at 826 Valencia, a tutoring and writing center for students in San Francisco. We mostly published student books there, and there are some of these elsewhere in this portfolio, but here I’m separating out some of the items I designed aimed at adults—which mostly means outreach and fundraising, but also some ads placed in magazines and an in-house worksheet we used during a planning retreat.
While 826 Valencia had a look, it was not strictly a house style—it was, as they say, vibes. Some descriptions that apply are: maritime, old-timey, piraty (of course), and schoolhouse.
