A photographic archive of famed Life magazine photographer, Leigh Wiener, as discovered by his son, set as a pictorial narrative of March 21, 1963, the last day that Alcatraz housed prisoners. This project came as a set of photographs and a little bit of text that fell into place shown as a straightforward chronology of that day. The edges of 35mm film stock were left in to emphasize the physicality of photography at the time, as an added facet of the historical record. Some investigative fun occurred while trying to place Mr Wiener’s timeline based on the locations of the photographs.
